Why Solis exists

Our story.

Solis started with one very stressed-out group chat.

Planning a trip with people you love should be the fun part — but somehow it becomes spiraling chats, half-abandoned spreadsheets, and one extremely Type A friend doing all the work. (Hi. That friend is me.)

So I built Solis so that friend can finally relax. It gathers everyone's ideas into one warm, shared place and uses a little AI to turn the chaos into a plan the whole group is actually excited about — organized enough to feel calm, loose enough to chase whatever the day throws at you. The name means "of the sun," because the best trips start with that golden-hour feeling of heading somewhere together.

We're a small, scrappy team — I build the product, and Elaine brings it to life through social and storytelling. We're figuring it out as we go, and travelers like you are the reason why. ☀️

Meet the team.

Caren

Hi, I'm Caren 👋 — plot twist — I'm a medical student, not a tech founder. I built Solis from scratch with zero engineering experience, which mostly means I've Googled a lot at 2am.

Here's my deal: I love to travel, but I'm the friend who shows up with everything 80% planned and 20% left open for spontaneity (and the occasional emergency). I keep backups. And backups for the backups. My first move in a new city isn't a landmark — it's locating the nearest grocery store, pharmacy, and café. Essentials first. ☕

That Type A streak means I'll sometimes spend the whole trip organizing instead of relaxing. I built Solis so that doesn't happen — to you, or to me.

Elaine

Hi! I'm Elaine 👋 — definitely more of a go-with-the-flow traveler than a planner. My favorite part of any trip is seeing how people actually live: exploring local culture, hunting for vintage and thrift finds, and getting off the typical tourist track.

The first thing I do somewhere new is find a local spot to try a food I've never had. The best memories come from spontaneous adventures, great food, and the people you meet along the way — and now I get to help share them.
